Gem Drop – a fast-paced puzzle game where it’s your job to clear the screen of gems before they squash you.
Gem Drop was based on “Magical Drop III” by SNK.
You grab gems (up to 10) of the same color and use them to knock more gems off the screen. Match 3 or more of the same color in a column and they explode — any adjacent gems of the same color also explode, causing a chain reaction that might cover the entire screen!
The more gems that disappear with one shot, the higher the score you get.
Gem Drop requires an Atari with 48K of RAM. (Atari 800’s, 800XL’s, 65XE’s, 130XE’s, XEGS’s or upgraded 400’s or 600XL’s.)
It has been tested with Rainbow 1.3A emulator for the Macintosh on a PowerMac 7500/100 at “Every” Framerate and worked quite well!
It also works great with the Atari800 emulator under Linux.
Modern PC users might want to check out Gem Drop X for Linux, Windows, BeOS, etc.
Gem Drop has been ported to C, and compiled with cc65, as the Gem Drop Deluxe.
