Kirby’s Star Stacker – a puzzle video game developed by HAL Laboratory for the Game Boy. It is the first Kirby puzzle game that is not a clone of an existing game.

A remake of this game was released on the Super Famicom in Japan.

Kirby’s Star Stacker is similar to other puzzle games such as Dr. Mario and Tetris. The goal of the game is to earn as many stars as possible by matching pairs of blocks (known in the game as friends) that fall from the top of the playing area. There are three types of blocks, based on the animal friends from Kirby’s Dream Land 2 – Rick the Hamster, Coo the Owl, and Kine the Fish. Stars are earned by matching matching blocks. When stars are obtained, they disappear from the playing area along with the blocks that enclose them. The game ends when the blocks reach the top of the playing area, so it is important to clear as many blocks as possible while collecting stars.

Kirby no Kirakira Kizzu (Japanese: カービィのきらきらきっず, Kābī no Kirakira Kizzu, Literally meaning “Kirby’s Sparkling Children”), also known as Kirby’s Super Star Stacker, is a video game released in 1998 for the SNES.
