Steem – an open source Atari STE emulator for Windows and Linux (called XSteem). It runs almost every ST program ever made without any problems. Steem is designed to be easy to use and has many unique features. Whether you want to run great old games, use MIDI apps just like you did on the ST or you have some other, more sinister motive, Steem is the emulator for you.

For Steem to run you need two things, the program itself and an image of the ST’s operating system (TOS). There are lots of versions of TOS, and different ones for every country. The ones we recommend are TOS 1.02 for games and TOS 2.06 for GEM applications.

Steem was originally developed by Anthony and Russ Hayward.

The project ended in 2004, but there is a fork called Steem SSE.
