Shining Force The Legacy of Great Intentionis – a tactical role-playing game released in 1992. It belongs to the Shining Force series.
The gameplay in the game is divided into two main parts – exploration of cities and the world, and battles. During the exploration of the world, the main character can talk to NPCs, buy new equipment from merchants and change the composition of the team for battles. Also during the exploration, you can meet new characters who join the team.
Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict is a 1995 tactical role-playing game for the Game Gear, taking place between the games Shining Force and Shining Force II. It was released after both games, with the intention of connecting their plots.
Shining Force II – a tactical role-playing game released in 1994. It belongs to the Shining Force series. The game’s action begins when thieves steal ancient stones, accidentally releasing demonic forces. In the kingdom of Granseal, the king suddenly falls ill, and it is attacked by dark forces led by the Demon Lord Zeon. The main character, a young warrior, named Bowie (the player can freely edit it at the beginning of the game) is chosen to gather a team and fight the enemy
The gameplay is very similar to the first part, it shares all the basic mechanics, the changes in the gameplay concern elements such as the lack of division of the game’s story into chapters, and the generally increased amount of content, e.g. spells. The gameplay is divided into two main parts – exploration of cities and the world, and battles. During the exploration of the world, the main character walks around the world without a team, can visit selected cities, talk to many NPCs, buy new equipment from merchants and change the composition of the team for battles – characters can be swapped between battles in the headquarters, usually located in the city.
An expanded version of this game, with changed graphics, interface and new characters, appeared in 2004 for Game Boy Advance, under the name Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon. The action of the game takes place on the continent of Rune, in the kingdom of Guardian, which was attacked by dark forces. The main character, a young warrior, was chosen to gather a team and fight the enemy.
