Young Merlin – a role-playing video game developed by Westwood Studios and published by Virgin Interactive on SNES in 1994.

The player embodies the young Merlin who, with the help of the fairy Viviane, tries to defeat the demonic Shadow King. The game mixes action and role-playing elements. Upon its release, the game was rather well received by the specialized press.

The SNES magazine N-Force, for example, gave it a score of 92% and presented it as the new Zelda,. For its part, the magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it a score of 76% and highlighted its enormous levels and the quality of its control system and graphics. The magazine GamePro made the same observation but regretted that its game system lacked complexity and that it required going back too often.
