GENS – a win32/unix Sega Genesis / Sega CD / Sega 32X emulator. Gens works on Win9X, it needs Directx 7.0 or higher.

It has following features:
– Windowed / Fullscreen mode with scanline and severals graphics engines
– Joystick support
– Netplay
– Save / Load State support (10 slots at the same format as genecyst / Dgen)
– SRAM support (saved in .srm file)
– BRAM support (saved in .brm file)
– Complete sound support (YM2612, PCM, PGS 76489, DAC) in 16 bits stereo at 11025 / 22050 / 44100 Hz
– Configurations files support
– ZIP support
– And a lot of others nice features…

This emulator is used in Gens for the SH-2 (Hitachi SH7604) CPU emulation required by the 32X system, it’s still incomplete because some features aren’t needed to achieve 32X emulation but here’s what is done :
– 100% SH-2 instruction set implemented
– Fetch/Read/Write from/to cache area supported
– External division unit
– External DMAC unit
– External watchdog timer
– External free run timer

The emulator can be freely distributed and used for any non commercial project as long you don’t forget to credit the author.

The project founder is Stéphane Dallongeville
